SHINE THE LIGHT
JESUS SURRENDERED…FULLY!
Jonah obeys, but only after his fishy detour. Jesus, when called into action, obeyed perfectly.
That is the difference. Jesus does not drag His feet toward the Father’s will. He SURRENDERS fully. In the Garden of Gethsemane, under the crushing weight of what lies ahead of Him, Jesus prays: NOT MY WILL, BUT YOURS BE DONE. And at the Cross, Jesus goes all the way until He speaks: IT IS FINISHED. What is finished? The mission God had purposed Jesus to fulfill.
That means Jesus is not only our example of DEEP SURRENDER. He is also the reason DEEP SURRENDER is possible at all. Because He gave Himself for us, we are no longer trying to obey in order to be loved. We obey because in Him we are already loved.
Romans 10:15 celebrates the beauty of those who bring good news. That is where DEEP SURRENDER leads…not into miserable loss, but a beautiful participation in God’s mission.
LOOK TO JESUS…
- Jesus is the perfectly surrendered Son
- Jesus DEEPLY SURRENDERED where Jonah stumbled and hesitated
- Jesus sends His people out with good news…not guilt.
PRAYER…
Jesus…thank You for Your perfect display of DEEP SURRENDER to the Father.
Shape my heart so that SURRENDER isn’t just something I talk about
but something I live!
