SHINE THE LIGHT
JESUS IS THE ULTIMATE RESCUER…
Jonah goes down into the depths of the sea because of his own rebellion…Jesus goes into the depths of death willingly to rescue the rebels.
That is the heart of the Gospel.
Jesus does not merely teach salvation – He accomplishes it. He takes sin seriously enough to bear it. He loves the sinners deeply enough to pursue them. He enters death itself and comes through it victorious.
This means DEEP SALVATION is not a vague religious feeling. It is not “trying harder to be better”. It is not “sorting your life out”. DEEP SALVATION is God acting in Jesus to do for sinners what sinners cannot do for themselves.
Wednesday’s memory verse says that nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. That is the security of DEEP SALVATION. Not your grip on Jesus, but His grip on you.
LOOK TO JESUS…
- Jesus enters the depth for us
- Jesus defeats sin and death for us
- Jesus holds us in a love stronger than shame, fear, or failure.
PRAYER…
Jesus…thank You that You are our DEEP SALVATION. Save me from turning to idols for rescue, or trusting myself, and teach me to rest in Your love and
the DEEP SALVATION achieved for us at the Cross.
