DIG DEEPER

DAY 1

WHY DOES LOVE GROW COLD?

Sometimes, we don’t even notice when our hearts grow cold toward Jesus. Life gets busy, distractions creep in, and before we know it, passion fades into routine. The Ephesian church’s story reminds us that loving Jesus isn’t just about doing things for Him—it’s about doing them with Him.

Let’s explore: What causes hearts to grow cold?

COMPARISON: When we focus on others’ faith journeys instead of our own, jealousy or apathy can creep in.

NEGLECT: If we stop investing time in prayer, worship, or reading Scripture, our love can wane.

BUSYNESS: When life fills up with good things—school, sports, friendships—we can leave the best thing (Jesus) behind.

KEY SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 24:12: Jesus warns that as wickedness increases, the love of many will grow cold.

REFLECT:
What is one area of your life that might be distracting you from loving Jesus deeply and warm-heartedly?

TAKE IT FURTHER:
Read Psalm 42:1–2 and reflect on what it looks like to “thirst for God.” Pray that God would rekindle your love for Him, like the psalmist who longed for His presence.
